John regularly performs in the Isle of Man, where he lives, and has also enjoyed full British tours with some of his fingerpicking blues heroes from the US – Ari Eisinger in 2017 (where he was the opening act with Mississippi John Hurt biographer Dr Phil Ratcliffe), Erin Harpe Country Blues Duo in 2019 and Toby Walker in 2019.
He has also hosted a joint mini tour with Howlin’ Mat in the Isle of Man (2022), opened for US fingerstyle legend Duck Baker in the UK and Isle of Man (2018), and opened for Catfish Keith, the Fabulous Thunderbirds (as part of the official Isle of Man TT Races entertainment), Nine Below Zero, jazz legend Martin Taylor, the Growling Old Men, Geordie MacKeeman and his Rythm Boys, Brother Mule, The Whiskey Dogs, Joe Filisko and Eric Noden. He has also opened for – and shared the stage with – Marcus Bonfanti and Michael Messer, as well as playing guitar at a talk by Bob Dylan expert and Blind Willie McTell biographer Michael Gray.
John has also performed at the Bitter End in New York and in Austin and in Luckenbach, Texas and played Big Bill Broonzy’s guitar in Chicago.
